Dr. Paul Silberstein
Dr Paul Silberstein is a Senior Staff Specialist Neurologist at the Royal North Shore Hospital and Visiting Medical Officer to North Shore Private Hospital, Sydney. Dr Silberstein completed Neurology training in Sydney and the Royal Free Hospital, London before undertaking a clinical and research Fellowship at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square, London where he completed a Doctorate of Medicine in Parkinson’s disease and Dystonia.
Since returning from the UK in 2004, Dr Silberstein's clinical practice focus has been in the management of Parkinson’s disease and Movement disorders. Dr Silberstein has expertise in the use of all current Advanced therapy modalities for Parkinson’s disease, with a particular interest in Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS).
As a DBS Neurologist, he has extensive experience in patient selection, intra-operative planning and neurophysiology, and long term patient management. He has treated over 450 patients with DBS and continues to manage patients with Parkinson’s disease, a variety of tremor disorders, Dystonia and Tourette’s syndrome.
Dr Silberstein has published numerous peer reviewed scientific and clinical papers relating to Deep Brain Stimulation and basal ganglia pathophysiology. He has participated as an invited speaker at National and International Neurological and Neurosurgical scientific meetings.
